An address is generally a postal address, although it does contain
elements for FAX
and Email
addresses as well
as the catch-all OtherAddr
.
The linespecific
notation on the Format
attribute makes line breaks and other spaces
significant in an Address
.
Formatted as a displayed block. This element is displayed “verbatim”; whitespace and linebreaks within this element are significant.
These elements contain address:

If continuation
is specified,
it indicates how line numbering should begin relative to the
immediately preceding address
.
Restarts
, the default, indicates that numbering should begin
again at 1. Continues
indicates that numbering should begin
where the preceding element left off.
The format
attribute applies the
linespecific
notation to all address
es.
All white space and line breaks must be preserved.
Line numbering indicates whether or not the lines
of an Address
are to be automatically numbered. The details
of numbering (every line or only selected lines, on the left or right, etc.)
are left up to the processing application. Be aware that not all processors
are capable of numbering lines.
